I will like to share this with you as it is a matter that has become prevalent in our days. Please come with me.
Check the book of 1 Samuel Chapter 25…It is the story of a couple
Vs 3 This man’s name was Nabal, and his wife, Abigail, was a sensible and beautiful woman. But Nabal, a descendant of Caleb, was crude and mean in all his dealings. From the scriptures above we see two contrasting personalities, Abigail and Nabal. Abigail was a sensible, intelligent and beautiful woman and Nabal was a crude, harsh, mean and evil man
Let us consider this two closely
Let’s see the testimonies of Nabal’s servant and wife (Abigail) concerning Nabal
Vs 17 You need to know this and figure out what to do, for there is going to be trouble for our master and his whole family. He’s so ill-tempered that no one can even talk to him!
The servant calls his boss a ill tempered man who does not take people’s advice.
Vs 25 I know Nabal is a wicked and ill-tempered man; please don’t pay any attention to him. He is a fool, just as his name suggests. But I never even saw the young men you sent
Abigail calls her husband a wicked, ill-tempered and foolish man.
Let us look at Abigail’s life
Vs 23 When Abigail saw David, she quickly got off her donkey and bowed low before him…… She waa a submissive woman and one honour and respect people
Vs 24 She fell at his feet and said, “I accept all blame in this matter, my lord. Please listen to what I have to say. See Abigail interceding and taking the blame for her “foolish” husband, what a woman!!!
Vs 18,27 Abigail wasted no time. She quickly gathered 200 loaves of bread, two wineskins full of wine, five sheep that had been slaughtered, nearly a bushel of roasted grain, 100 clusters of raisins, and 200 fig cakes. She packed them on donkeys………And here is a present that I, your servant, have brought to you and your young men. See her heart of service and her level of hospitality
Vs 24-31 shows also that she was a woman of gracious with words. You remember Paul’s admonitions to the people of Colosse in chapter 4 vs 6 ” Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone” ….. She knew that before time.
Did you see how David jump at her immediately Nabal died? Check vs 39…. Abigail was indeed a treasure
After checking these two lives, I feel like crying for “Sister” Abigail.
How did she end up as Mr Nabal’s wife? Was it because she did not pay attention to detail? Was it because she was pressured by friends and family members? Was it because she decided to neglect this little shortcomings in Nabal’s life all in the name of love? Was she deceived by the fact that Nabal is from the lineage of Caleb?
I do not seem to have answers for the questions above (you can check the featured image for the thoughts of a friend) but I have some words for you.Let me say these to you:
You deserve the best, do not settle for less…God is making you, He will bring the best for you as His daughter or son.
You are a treasure sisters, do not cast yourself before a swine. You are a king brothers, you deserve the best, wait for it.
