We are tired

This is a pressing matter in the church and we must address it. The aim of this is not to shade any one or any denomination. Please open your heart as you read. God bless you.

The church now burdens people with dos and don’ts, some of us have assumed the role of the Holy Spirit.

The church is not a place of rules and regulations, the church is you (a body that bears the LORD). I think it is high time we stopped “burdening” men with rules but teaching them the love of God and helping them have an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Gal 4:3 (NLT) And that’s the way it was with us before Christ came. We were like children; we were slaves to the basic spiritual principles of this world… We were like this before we knew Christ, but not anymore.

Matthew 11:18 (AMP) “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace]…. Obeying rules or principles is not the way, it only lead to weariness and lack of peace.

Gal 3:10 (ERV) “But people who depend on following the law to make them right are under a curse. As the Scriptures say, “They must do everything that is written in the law. If they do not always obey, they are under curse“…. Obeying laws lead to death because you cannot obey all.

You may want to ask, why do we have the law? My answer to you is in Galatians 3:19, 21-24 (MSG)

Verse 19; The purpose of the law was to keep sinful people in the way of salvation until Christ (the descendant) came, inheriting the promises and distributing them to us.

Verse 21-22; If such is the case, is the law, then, an anti-promise, a negation of God’s will for us? Not at all. Its purpose was to make obvious to everyone that we are, in ourselves, out of right relationship with God, and therefore to show us the futility of devising some religious system for getting by our own efforts what we can only get by waiting in faith for God to complete his promise. For if any kind of rule-keeping had power to create life in us, we would certainly have gotten it by this time.

Verse 23-24; Until the time when we were mature enough to respond freely in faith to the living God, we were carefully surrounded and protected by the Mosaic law. The law was like those Greek tutors, with which you are familiar, who escort children to school and protect them from danger or distraction, making sure the children will really get to the place they set out for.

The gospel is not first a call to change your dress or hair, it is a call to accept what Christ did on the cross.

The gospel is Christ calling you to take up His yoke upon you and learn of Him (following Him as a disciple) — Matthew 11:29.

In your walk with God, if you take up His yoke and follow Him you will find rest (renewal) for your souls.

Listen, God’s yoke is easy to bear and His burden is light.

Gal 5:6(NLT) For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself love. Express your faith in love.

Mark 12:29-31( MSG) The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.’ And here is the second: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ There is no other commandment that ranks with these. Love your God with all their heart and also love your neighbor as yourself.

You are not a law enforcement agent, you are a believer… Stop painting Christianity as a world of laws, it is a walk of love.

You may not be so pleased with a brother or sister but before you go out to talk to them about it, you can try talking to God first about them and whatever it is about them

Have you been a victim of this? If yes, how did you manage it? What did you do? Or have you meted this out to people at any point in time? If yes, how did you snap out of it? Endeavor to share with us all in the comments box.

  1. Thank you very much sir. It is very detailed.
😂So, I was a victim of this some years back. When I discovered that trying to explain myself was futile since they had a set mindset, I walked away literarily. The one that happened virtually received a “Thank you” and I walked away. Just this week, the guy was gave a public wee for being an extremist.
It is very important to first of all, walk in love with Christ and let Him lead you.

    Thank you very much sir!

  2. This is timely sir.
I think we need to start finding a common ground between us and others from other denominations.
We are not policemen. We are joint heirs with Christ. We are brothers and sisters. We edify one another.
