Working for them

Hello, happy new month to you friends. It is being a while here. I had to take a break in March to do some other things and I think I am back finally. Thank you for always reading. Let’s me quickly share something with you.

During the days of my Industrial attachment, I heard a phrase that really made me angry anytime I heard it. It was the phrase “it is working for them“. This phrase is used to show that “Christianity is not the only option“, to show that “Christ is not the only way“, “without God men can still do things” and “to doubt the power of our God”. This statement infuriates me but really it seems this is not the first time something like this is happening, there have been scenarios like this in God’s word. Let’s take a look at some instances.

You remember the story of Moses in contention with the magicians of Egypt in the palace of Pharaoh. Pharaoh was sure of his magicians that he challenged Moses and Aaron…. So Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh, and did just as the Lord had commanded; Aaron threw down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh called for the wise men [skilled in magic and omens] and the sorcerers [skilled in witchcraft], and they also, these magicians (soothsayer-priests) of Egypt, did the same with their secret arts and enchantments. For every man threw down his staff and they turned into serpents; but Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs (Exo 7:10-12, AMP)... Pharaoh trusted so much in his magicians and soothsayers that he even challenged the God of Israel, he most likely had never thought that there will ever be anybody to disgrace his employees but really Moses and Aaron came with the power of the living God..

Can you recollect the story of Pharaoh’s dreams ? Let me just pick the verses needed, we all know it is a long story… So when morning came his spirit was troubled and disturbed and he sent and called for all the magicians and all the wise men of Egypt. And Pharaoh told them his dreams, but no one could interpret them to him (Gen 41:8, AMP)…You see, before this time the king thought his magicians and wise men could solve his problems, he most likely never thought of needing God until confusion came to visit him in his chambers at night… We all know who solved this mystery, a man of the living God. Even the king testified to this… So Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this [a man equal to Joseph], in whom is the divine spirit [of God]?”  Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since [your] God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and clear-headed and wise as you are (Gen 41:38-39, AMP)… After Pharaoh saw the mighty hand of God he couldn’t deny it. He had no choice but to acknowledge God.

You remember Daniel in Babylon? You remember the King and one of his dilemmas… One night during the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had such disturbing dreams that he couldn’t sleep. He called in his magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, and astrologers, and he demanded that they tell him what he had dreamed. As they stood before the king,  he said, “I have had a dream that deeply troubles me, and I must know what it means.”Then the astrologers answered the king in Aramaic, “Long live the king! Tell us the dream, and we will tell you what it means (Daniel 2:1-4)… The king is confused and his paid groups of magicians cannot even help the matter. See what even the astrologers said concerning the matter… The astrologers replied to the king, “No one on earth can tell the king his dream! And no king, however great and powerful, has ever asked such a thing of any magician, enchanter, or astrologer! The king’s demand is impossible. No one except the gods can tell you your dream, and they do not live here among people (Daniel 2:10-11)… They agreed that they are limited and that their wisdom cannot answer everything.

Now, let’s see the response of the greatest king in the world when Daniel brought a solution to the problem. What he did amaze me… Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell face downward and paid respect to Daniel [as a great prophet of the highest God], and gave orders for an offering and fragrant incense to be presented to him [in honor of his God].  The king answered Daniel and said, “Most certainly your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, since you have been able to reveal this mystery (Dan 2:46-47, AMP)… Wow! The “great king” of the world acknowledged the LORD/KING over kings. Our God is the only true God.

This is not the first time something like this is happening, it happened many times in the bible. God always win… (Isa 44: 24-25)

This looks as though it will never end but let me end with this scripture showing the supremacy of Christ ”  He is the divine portrait, the true likeness of the invisible God, and the first-born heir of all creation. For through the Son everything was created, both in the heavenly realm and on the earth, all that is seen and all that is unseen. Every seat of power, realm of government, principality, and authority—it was all created through him and for his purpose! He existed before anything was made, and now everything finds completion in him. He is the Head of his body, which is the church. And since he is the beginning and the firstborn heir in resurrection, he is the most exalted One, holding first place in everything (Colossians 1: 15-18, TPT)

Men and systems may try to mimick God’s works but we know the end of a vehicle running on just a litre of petrol.

  1. You can share your experiences with us on the phrase “working for them”. How do you feel when you here people say that phrase? What should be our responses as believers?

Please share your experiences, it may be what someone here need.

  2. Thanks for this sir.
Yes, it might seem to be working for them now but the time will come when the difference will be clear. It won’t always work for them but with God we can be sure it will always work for us.

  3. Nicely said. I think this mindset has kept many believers from reaching out to some unbelievers with the gospel of Christ, because they feel that what they, the unbelievers, have is working for them. The person of the Christ and how condemned and helpless the world is without him, no matter how comfortable they presently look, must thoroughly sink into our consciousness.
    Well done bro
